Complete the KWL charts in preparation for Career Day.  Be sure to finish the forms following the presentations, so that you receive full credit!
Vocabulary Write synonyms, and an ORIGINAL sentence using each of the Most Missed vocabulary words.  
Test Taking Skills
  • What do you think is the correct answer and why?
  • What do you think are the incorrect answers and why?
  • Why did the test maker choose those particular incorrect answers?
Lathe After you have completed your Typing Test requirements, you may begin your shop project.  Review the Pen Turning Instructions and be prepared to identify and discuss the following tools in the shop: square, mandrel, bushing, blank, band saw, drill press, drill bit, jig, disc sander, grinder, scraping tool, tool rest, lathe.   All students are required to follow strict safety guidelines.
Poetry Assignment

Using at least one word from the Word Challenge table, write a poem in the form of  a quatrain or haiku.  Save  your poem in the POEMS folder on EA Hall Apps.  The title of your document is your first and last name. 

Rhythm and Meter –beat or timing

Rhyme – repetitive patterns of sound

Haiku – Three lines of poetry, each line having a set amount of syllables, arranged in a 5-7-5 pattern

Quatrain – a stanza with  four lines of poetry

Career Exploration Take the Reality Check survey and explore career paths that 1) you might find fulfilling, and 2) meet your financial needs.  Research and discuss three different careers you find interesting and realistic for your goals. Download and use three separate copies of the Career Form template to complete this work.  Be sure to save them to your Print Jobs folder.  You may want to use the resources found on the Career Exploration page to do your research.
Current Events

Daily Exercise: Explore the following links and find an article that gains your interest.  Read it carefully (re-read parts you don't understand!) and complete your entry in your Events Log.  Be sure to save your work in your eahall-apps folder.

 
Social Science Presidents and States
See how you do in identifying the locations of the 50 states.  Also, explore the U.S. Presidents by clicking on their pictures.  Choose one that you would like to research and write about; we will be doing a Presidential Report.
Book Review Open this form and fill it out.  Turn in two copies:  One copy should be in your folder on eahall-apps, and the other should be in the Book Reports folder on eahall-apps.  Your file should be named by the Title of the book.
Plot Structure Identify the plot structures in a basic story, such as The Three Little Pigs.  Write out each component: Setting, Conflict, Development, Climax, and Resolution.

Research, Writing, Art Composition (example) tool.  Depict your own culture by creating a a montage consisting of ten "slices", each showing a part of your culture. You are required to build a list of image references as you work on your project.

Gifts and Giving Write an essay addressing the Gifts and Giving Assignment .  After you finish your essay (in Word), you will create a presentation of your ideas in Powerpoint.
