Bienvenidos! Thank you for visiting my web page! I am the push-in resource specialist at E.A. Hall Middle School. Push-in is a new model of servicing special education students at E.A. Hall. Really, it is the future of special education. Many other states have adopted this model as the standard method of service for resource students. Instead of the kids coming to me, I go to them. I teach in a regular education classroom with the general education teacher to ensure that all students can access the curriculum. That means two teachers in the classroom and we all know that two heads are better than one and the more the merrier!
As a push-in teacher it means that I:
-help all students in the classroom achieve.
-modify lessons and assignments.
-collaborate on lesson plans with the regular teacher.
-reformat difficult material.
-provide small group instruction, when needed.
-simplify directions.
-keep kids on task who might normally get lost in a large class with only one teacher.
-monitor behavior.
-spice up lessons with other learning styles.
With the extra support, ALL students have a better chance of succeeding!
AFTER-SCHOOL DRAMA CLASS
I also teach a drama class in the after-school program. It is on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 3pm-4pm in room 9. This is also a new program for E.A. Hall. As opposed to being a traditional class, it incorporates more activity and little time actually at a desk, if ever. It involves games to improve acting skill and self-awareness as well as script annalysis and the production of a play! This class is open to any E.A. Hall student of any grade level or acting ability. You don't need to have talent to join, just a willingness to be there.
